Counseling

The very act of considering counseling is taking a courageous step toward change. At one time or another, most of us have faced life events that can throw us off and where we end up feeling stuck. Does this sound familiar? This is where therapy can assist. Talking with a professional counselor can bring clarity, perspective, and hope.

The counseling process represents a collaboration between client and therapist. We will set goals, formulate and implement action plans, and assess progress throughout the process. Through therapy, you can change self-destructive behaviors and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve relationships, and more. You will learn new skills with an aim toward developing psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility is the ability to increase your emotional agility, which makes room for movement and change. It is important to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that requires participation from client and therapist alike.

Part of the success to positive treatment outcomes originates in my ability to create a trusting and collaborative relationship with my clients. My clients describe me as someone they immediately feel comfortable with, someone who is easy to talk to, someone who is not afraid of tough conversations and someone who will push them when necessary and at the right time. The answers will reveal themselves with time, thoughtful and purposeful deliberation and, most importantly, trust. Trust in yourself, the trust you put in me to help guide you, and trusting that the process will reveal the right course of action for you -- the answers lie within you. I have cried with my clients, I have walked with them through their struggles and I have cheered them onto and after they have come full circle and are ready to meet life’s challenges head on again.

My commitment is to meet you where you are today and assist you in where you want to go. Not sure where you want to go? We can figure that out too.

I invite you to contact me for a free 15-minute introductory meeting or phone conversation. Let’s see if we're a good fit!
