Putting the Family First

Ending a marriage or a long-term relationship brings many adjustments, and former partners can find themselves in the middle of confusing and overwhelming emotions and conflict. Whether you are a couple, or if children are involved, finding ways to manage and keep conflict at a minimum are essential. Couples that are married, separating, divorcing, divorced or were never married, know children react negatively to poorly managed conflict. There is an alternative to a divisive, contested end to a relationship.

Conscientious Divorce is a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to divorce, dedicated to preserving the interests of the couple or family. A different approach to conventional divorce, I work with couples to move through conflict, often outside the court system. Through open and honest communications and conflict-resolution skill building, I work with couples to build mutually beneficial agreements focused on defining goals that are most important to your future. These goals become the foundation of how you work together through divorce. If children are involved your goals will also focus on life after divorce, with the well-being of your family as a guiding core value. If you are post divorce and are still struggling with communications, I can still work with you to achieve a new way forward.

The State of Maine requires parties going through a divorce, where children are involved, go through mediation prior to a hearing. However, successfully resolving all issues prior to mediation can turn even a contested divorce, often requiring both parties to retain attorneys, into an uncontested divorce negating the need for attorneys, saving you time and money.
